Because we can, can, can!

I canned my first batch of tomatoes recently and my next step is to make up a batch of sauce and can it, too. I’ll be eating like a queen this winter! Or at least like a tomato farmer 🙂

Ok, here’s my progress…

Step 1: Get some tomatoes.

Step 2: Boil em till they split their pants.

Step 3: Get em all the way naked.

Step 4: Into the jars and back into the bath.

Step 5: Save them for later!

Back in the saddle

I’ve been missing in action for a while but with good reason… I didn’t feel like doing anything.

It’s been a crazy summer and I anticipate an even crazier fall coming up so I thought I should take some time off and recharge while I had the chance. With Jenna’s graduation, we had many days full of activity last weekend and it was great to see so many friends and family members. I spent the beginning of my vacation week visiting with my grandparents before they went back to Florida. Then I helped Jason and Chrissy with some more deck/fence building and I wandered around my garden a bit. I even got out my pottery wheel one night and got my hands dirty. To top it all off Jenna, Keith, and I went camping with the folks for the Labor day holiday and- aside from a small incident with the campground muscle- it was a beautiful, restful weekend.

In other words, I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it would be. Hopefully, this will recharge me enough to make it through the impending fall quarter.

I took remarkably few pictures during the festivities but I did manage to get some adorable shots of my new furry nephew Chewy…
